Miller

1961 / United States

Classics

Dan Miller has been attending the Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland since 1988. Autistic, he experiences epileptic seizures and works most of the time wearing a helmet to prevent injury. His works are palimpsests of letters and words that he completely covers until they disappear.

Dan Miller creates his own language, which is part of a vast, rhythmic, abstract codex whose meaning only he understands.

Alongside his painting, he creates works of visual poetry using a typewriter.

Exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2017, his work is included in the collections of MoMA (New York) and the Centre Pompidou.
