Contemporaries

Franza Maier always works surrounded by a rich array of materials that she can access quickly during her spontaneous creative process, without any preparatory work.

She draws strictly geometric figures, uses stencils, and strips of masking tape.

In her drawings, which are partly abstract and partly figurative, created with felt-tip pens and pencils, one can find traces of acrylic or watercolor paint, as well as glued, sometimes textured, materials. Maier juxtaposes fluorescent colors with softer, muted tones. She alternates between works rich in graphic detail and others that are more minimalist.
