Korec

1938 - 2008 / Austria

Classics

Johann Korec spent his childhood in institutions and specialized schools, then began working on a farm at the age of fourteen. Around the age of twenty, he was admitted to the Maria Gugging Hospital, a pioneer in the development of artistic activities.

Korec joined the renowned Casa dei Artisti (House of Artists), where he would henceforth dedicate his life to art.

Animals, the circus, and sexual acts were his preferred themes.

He collected newspapers and cut out photographs, which he then traced onto paper. He sexualized the figures and depicted mating. Over time, writing became inseparable from his work.
