Margot

1982 - France

Contemporaries

Margot's fascinating work is brimming with detail. It invites our gaze to wander and lose itself in the labyrinthine meanders of her cosmogonic oeuvre. Her drawings are composed of anthropomorphic architectures populated by mysterious creatures, spiritual entities that seem to observe us, to call to us.

A self-taught artist, Margot remains very elusive and secretive about her work, simply stating that she draws her inspiration from nature.

Characterized by her horror vacui, the ornamentation and use of color are reminiscent of ancient manuscripts.

Her evocative work shares some formal similarities with certain illustrious mediumistic artists such as Victorien Sardou, Augustin Lesage, and Madge Gill.
